Hiab

Period: September 2015 – march 2016

In my second stint at the Polish section of HIAB I was the assistent-projectmanager assigned to improve relations with HIAB’s suppliers. HIAB’s production time depends strongly on the delivery of dozens suppliers. During my time in Poland I spoke with a lot of them and visited a fair amount (across Europe) to assess the possibilities of improvement and to make contract agreements about these improved delivery times. This was a really successful project: relations have been permanently improved, HIAB has significantly improved their own delivery times and the expeditors now have protocol to maintain contact with suppliers and uphold the standards of delivery.

Hiab is the leading provider of on-road load handling equipment and services. We offer products, services and spare parts that are used in on-road transport and delivery.

With Hiab’s products, the customer can move, hoist, load and unload products, equipment and materials.

Hiab’s customers range from large national or regional companies to local and relatively small enterprises. Customers’ fields of businesses include transportation companies, municipalities and governments, fleet operators, single truck owners, rental companies and truck manufacturers. Hiab’s business is characterised by a high number of individual, small orders.

Period: september 2014-march2015

The Polish branch of Hiab mainly produces cranes. Or not, the production department was not always able to get the products assembled in time. I have worked on the site for over a half year, to analyze the process, to see what is missing and where the problems are. And to tackle problems with suppliers hands-on, from the beginning. Now all expeditors follow a similar procedure and pay more attention to the interests of all parties in the production chain. As a result the builders are no longer short of essential parts and the cranes get shipped on time.

NewaysPeriod: several longer periods during five years

At Neways I have worked several times. First to ensure that the effectiveness of the production went up, by optimizing the material availability. After that, a production location of Neways in Germany burned down, and I was employed to ensure that the production of this plant was integrated in Leeuwarden. A tough job, but we managed to always continue delivering on time! I also replaced people that were taken down by prolonged illness.

Neways Electronics International N.V. is a global operating EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) provider of industrial and professional electronics and is listed on Euronext Amsterdam.
Neways develops, produces and assembles: (micro) electronics, printed circuit boards and cable and wiring harnesses right up to complete box-built products and systems. Service, repair and product life cycle management are all part of Neways’s integral package of services.

Period: 6 months

At Valspar, I was mainly employed with restructuring the payment terms of suppliers. To streamline the entire business processes within the Valspar company, it was important to level the payment terms conditions. My role in this process was the coordination and implementation of these new conditions in the international context of the company.

GeesinkPeriod: one and a half years in total, in three periods

Geesink builds waste trucks, in a surprisingly large range. Their expeditor left, so I came in. Problems with suppliers repeatedly caused late delivery of the end product. During this stint I became really aware of the importance of communication, and I realized that was exactly my forte. I managed to get everyone on the same side again: the relationships between Geesink and its suppliers are permanently improved.

Geesinknorba is a leading manufacturer of refuse collection vehicles, portable and static compactors, with its operation headquarter in the Netherlands. We look back to 140 years of company history in the waste management industry in Europe.We distribute our products and services in Europe through own branch offices in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Rumania and United Kingdom. Geesinknorba also offers its products and services to customers through distributors in Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Baltic States, Middle East and other countries.

Period: one year in 2007, returned three times for shorter periods.

Consider complaints as free advice, is what they say in the management books. Zenitel, a telecom company, didn’t get round to addressing internal and external complaints about product quality and service. Buro Grip organized, on two levels: structuring the expediting and updating the quality standards manual.

The result: all the free advice Zenitel received over time has now been implemented into the company’s corporate processes.
